Postion:

Sales Manager

Location:

Remote - Canada or US

Application deadline:

September 13, 2026

As a Sales Manager, you will own new business growth across North America, guiding utilities and energy-intensive companies through complex, consultative sales cycles.

Role Summary:

At Delta-X Research, every role contributes to a clear purpose: helping electric utilities and industrial operators make smarter decisions that protect critical infrastructure and keep the power on. We’re a collaborative, science-driven team building trusted software that delivers real-world results.

As a Sales Manager, you will drive new business growth and deepen existing customer relationships for Delta-X Research. This role works closely with Customer Operations, Marketing, Product Management, and Research, and plays a key part in helping customers understand the operational, reliability, and financial value of Delta-X Research’s decision-support tools.

Who We Are:

Delta-X Research is a Canadian software company serving the electric power industry. Since 1992, we’ve helped utilities and industrial operators detect risk, improve reliability, and prevent outages with advanced analytics rooted in real-world transformer data.

Our flagship product, Transformer Oil Analyst™ (TOA), is trusted by more than half of the largest utilities in the United States. We’re a pragmatic, purpose-driven team that values scientific integrity, deep thinking, and the impact of our work on the people who keep the lights on.

Why Work With Us?

The work we do matters, and so do the people who do it. At Delta-X Research, you’ll find a respectful, low-ego environment where curiosity is encouraged, quality is valued, and good ideas come from everywhere. We believe in doing meaningful work without burning out, and we support each other in delivering thoughtful, high-impact solutions.

But meaningful work is only part of the equation. We also care about how we work together, with collaboration, trust, and a healthy respect for life outside of work. We celebrate wins, learn from challenges, and make space for growth.

We offer:

  • Competitive base salary of $80,000 to $100,000 CAD to start, plus a commission structure based on results and profit sharing. On-target total compensation, combining base salary and commission, is $140,000 to $165,000 CAD.
  • Comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, life insurance, and long-term disability.
  • Three weeks of paid vacation, with room to grow over time.
  • A fully remote work environment with a team that trusts you to do your best work from where you work best.
  • Opportunities to learn, grow, and expand into new areas as we scale.

A word about travel. This role involves up to 40 percent travel across Canada and the United States, mostly customer visits, industry conferences, and trade shows. Travel comes in clusters rather than spread evenly through the year. February and March are consistently the busiest months, with a second busy stretch from September through November and a quieter summer. International travel is not a regular part of this role, but a valid passport and the ability to travel internationally are required.

If you’re looking for meaningful work on a team that values your perspective and supports your growth, we’d love to hear from you.

Who You Are:

You are a consultative seller who enjoys the long game. You like getting deep into a customer’s world, learning how they run their equipment and where their risks sit, so you can help them make a confident decision. You are comfortable selling something genuinely technical to people who trust evidence far more than a sales pitch. You build trusted relationships that customers are glad to stand behind, and you can manage several complex sales processes at once without losing track of the detail.

What You’ll Do:

As the Sales Manager at Delta-X Research, you will play a crucial role in expanding the Delta-X Research footprint across North American utilities and energy-intensive industries.

Sales Execution and Revenue Growth: Meet and exceed booking targets by identifying, qualifying, and closing new business with new and existing accounts. Execute a territory and account plan that expands the Delta-X Research footprint across North American utilities and energy-intensive industries, and engage channel partners where they help.

Consultative Selling and Customer Relationships: Explain the value of science-based decision-support tools to senior operations, engineering, and IT stakeholders. Identify customer challenges, risk exposure, and operational pain points, manage several complex sales processes at once, and build trusted relationships that customers are glad to stand behind.

Pipeline Development and Reporting: Prospect within target market segments across generation, transmission, and distribution utilities as well as industrial operators. Build a detailed understanding of each customer’s organizational structure, competitive landscape, and technology environment, and keep sales forecasts and CRM data accurate and current.

Events and Industry Presence: Represent Delta-X Research at industry conferences and trade shows across North America, and use those events to build relationships with customers, representatives, and prospects.

What You’ll Bring – Must Have:

  • Three or more years of B2B software or SaaS sales experience with individual quota responsibility, plus a demonstrated record of meeting or exceeding that target.
  • Experience selling software solutions, preferably within a SaaS business model.
  • A track record of managing and closing complex sales cycles involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience engaging customers at all organizational levels, from field personnel to executive leadership.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.

What You’ll Bring – Preferred:

  • Experience selling to electric utilities, particularly in substation maintenance or asset management.
  • Experience managing or supporting channel partners, such as manufacturers’ representatives or value-added resellers.
  • Experience related to dissolved gas analysis, transformer monitoring, or substation field testing.
  • Experience speaking or presenting at industry conferences or customer workshops.

What You Know & How You Work:

You have a strong understanding of B2B and SaaS sales models, and familiarity with the electric power grid, utility operations, and asset reliability concepts. You communicate well in writing and in person, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly and plainly, and you bring strong consultative selling, negotiation, and presentation skills. You are proficient with CRM tools and standard business software. You are able to manage competing priorities and multiple opportunities, and to work independently in a remote role while collaborating effectively across teams. You are comfortable in a small, hands-on team where you own your pipeline end to end, from prospecting through close. You are willing and able to travel up to 40% within Canada and the United States, and you hold a valid passport and are able to travel internationally.

What We Look For In All Team Members:

At Delta-X Research, we care just as much about how you work as what you know. Across every role and function, we look for people who bring curiosity, integrity, and a collaborative spirit to the team. Here’s what matters to us:

  • A learning mindset. You don’t need to have all the answers, just a willingness to ask great questions, seek out feedback, and keep growing.
  • Respect and inclusion. We value diverse perspectives and create space for everyone to contribute meaningfully. Discrimination of any kind has no place here.
  • Team-first thinking. You know when to take the lead and when to support. You collaborate with care and communicate clearly.
  • Accountability and follow-through. You take ownership of your work and follow through on commitments, even when things get complex.
  • Clarity over ego. We care more about solving the problem than about who’s right. If something isn’t working, you speak up, and you’re open when others do the same.
  • Care for the craft. Whether it’s code, content, analysis, or customer service, you take pride in the quality and usefulness of what you produce.
  • A practical sense of humour. We work hard and take our mission seriously, but we also know the value of a good laugh and a well-placed GIF.
