We help the electric power industry operate & maintain the globe’s largest infrastructure in the most efficient, reliable and cost effective manner possible. This is our contribution to helping the world utilize our precious energy resources most responsibly.
Our specific role is to create the most effective diagnostic software available for assessing and tracking the condition of high voltage apparatus. With early and accurate detection of apparatus fault conditions, our customers are better equipped to manage risk, reduce system losses, improve reliability and maximize return on investment of their high-value assets.
Interpreting apparatus test data is complicated, so Delta-X Research invests in the research and development of statistical and computational techniques for apparatus condition assessment. With a sound scientific basis for interpreting test data, our products provide accurate and timely insights into the condition of critical assets, so the electricity system can be operated safely and reliably at peak conditions and maintenance teams can be deployed most cost effectively. Furthermore, priorities can be established to replace or upgrade aging assets in a manner that optimizes capital budgets.
Delta-X is a private company founded in 1992, and is located in beautiful Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.
As Chief Executive Officer, John drives and manages corporate strategy, business development, operations and finance. Over 25 years, John held leadership roles in organizations that operated or provided solutions for demanding applications including utility operations, industrial automation, and navy command & control. John was an early principal at Tantalus, a leading utility communications company, where he established and built the vision for a real-time, two-way communications network to automate utilities all the way to consumers; a model that is now standard for grid modernization implementations. John received his electrical engineering degree from the Royal Military College of Canada, and is a registered Professional Engineer.
Jim is the Principal Scientist and Founder of Delta-X Research. He is the company's software architect and director of technical support. Working full-time in the electric power industry since 1988, he has developed successful software products for monitoring and diagnostic applications, including widely used applications for factory switchgear monitoring, insulation power factor testing, and dissolved-gas analysis. He conducts research on the statistical and computational interpretation of online monitor and laboratory test data for high voltage apparatus. A member of CIGRE and a Life Member of IEEE, he is actively involved in IEEE/PES Transformers Committee standards development. Jim received a PhD degree in Mathematics from Simon Fraser University, Burnaby BC Canada, in 1980.
