Work on a preliminary draft for a proposed new IEEE C57.104 transformer DGA guide is proceeding. Latest version presented at the Spring 2008 IEEE Transformers Committee Conference. A rough draft for the C57.139 LTC DGA guide was also presented. Some files are downloadable from the IEEE TC web site.
The Transformers Committee of the IEEE Power Engineering Society holds periodic meetings where numerous working groups gather to discuss the development or revision of transformer-related standards. The meeting of October 23-26, 2006 was held in Montreal, Quebec. Of particular interest to us is work on a new version of the C57.104 guide for DGA in oil-filled transformers and on a new C57.139 guide for DGA in load tapchangers. Jim Dukarm of Delta-X Research introduced a tutorial presentation (see link below) by research scientists Oleg Roizman and Valery Davydov on the application of a new concept - water activity in paper - to the assessment and control of moisture in transformer insulation.
